The Sequel to a Box Office Hit

April 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Boxing is so much like the movies. If people go gaga at the box office, then there will definitely be a sequel. Remember Rocky Balboa? Yes, the same character in Rocky 1 to 5.

Anyway, this was what I was thinking as I read the press release concerning the Maywearher-dela Hoya fight set for September this year. This fight is a sequel to their May 5 clash at the MGM Grand. If you will remember, Mayweather had a controversial win through a split decision which gave him the junior middle weight belt. This fight was said to have sold around $18,419,200 in tickets and the second match is estimated to get as much support as the original one.

With September fast approaching, Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. tickets are selling like hotcakes despite the time of the match still unsettled as of press time. Concerns regarding Mayweather switching to mix martial arts is said to have caused the tentative fight schedule. Aside from this, sources report that dela Hoya is planning to return to the welterweight division in which Mayweather is also the champion so negotiations on the weight for the rematch are still ongoing. The Maywearher-dela Hoya II fight is set at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Houston Alexander

November 12th, 2007 · No Comments

houston-alexander.jpgBeing a Mixed Martial Artist demands time and dedication. For you to be on top of every game, training must be really extensive. It eats a lot of your time. That’s why I personally admire Houston Alexander- An American MMA artist known as the “The Nebraskan Assassin”.

Aside from being a MMA artist, he is also a famous hip-hop artist in Nebraska. And what’s amazing about this tough guy is being a single father to not only one or two but six kids. I can’t imagine how he divides his time to these roles – A light-heavy weight contender to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, a hip-hop artist, and most importantly, as a father to 6 kiddos.

Are the Patriots a Super Bowl Bound team?

October 2nd, 2007 · No Comments

Are they going to the Super Bowl this time? The New England Patriots were just short shy of their fourth Super Bowl when they lose to the Colts last year. This time we cannot deny the truth that they are the best team in the league with the inclusion of Randy Moss and Donte Stallworth. It is the best receivers that Tom Brady has ever had. He had thrown 13 touchdown passes already and surely he will get more.

Still the New England Patriots are the No. 1 in the NFL Power Rankings. It looks like the San Diego Chargers haven’t found their groove yet and they are now all the way down. The defending champion Indianapolis Colts is just tailing the Patriots and you can read it all the in the NFL Blog.

It is interesting for all the NFL fans to wait for the gigantic battle of these two teams on November 4. It will be a battle that we have to anticipate which will change the ESPN NFL Power Rankings. I really love the NFL.

allison jaskowiakAllison Jaskowiak is the guard/forward for the University of South Carolina Womens Basketball team. She was recently been awarded fifth year of eligibility by the NCAA so she can play again and return to the court of USC for a final season in 2007-08. Allison is considered to be a valuable player as a defensive stopper for the Trojan roster and also a good leader on and off the court.

When she started playing in season 2003-04 as a freshman, she had very limited time averaging only two minutes per game. She only made three appearance in her freshman year playing against San Diego (Dec. 13), Washington State (Feb. 5) and California (Feb. 21). Did I Sleep Through The 2007 Season?

May 9th, 2007 · No Comments

Did I suddenly become Rip Van Winkle? How could I have missed out on the New England Patriots winning Super Bowl XLII?

But wait. I just checked my calender and unless my eyes are playing tricks on me it’s only May 7 and the regular season is still four months away.

If that’s the case, then why in the hell is practically every football writer, website and newspaper handing the Lombardi Trophy to the Patriots?

The off-season additions of Adalius Thomas, Tory James, Donte Stallworth, Wes Walker and Randy Moss, have made the Patriots stronger. There’s no doubt about that. On paper, New England is one of the favorites. But games aren’t won on paper. They’re won on the field.

How can anyone in their right mind pencil New England into the Super Bowl when training camp hasn’t even started yet?

Oscar De la Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather (with video)

May 8th, 2007 · No Comments

The recent De La Hoya and Mayweather bout was so excitingly boring due to the fact that both boxers intend to match up to their expectation to each other’s ability while marketing strategy is cooking just below the ring. No one has ever imagined that any one of them “plans” to retire in the soonest possible time. Floyd Mayweather was quoted of saying that he already plans to permanently leave his boxing career. This intention seems to be perplexed in a sense that it is very rare you will hear a boxer who publicly involves his future plans of retiring while in his last fight with De La Hoya, hooked him up again to the top spot.

Playing 8-Ball Pool

April 9th, 2007 · No Comments

8 ball pool I remember when was in high school i used to play pool or billiards after class. During that time, Efren Reyes was very popular. My friends at school, we all love pool, whether its 8 ball pool, 9 ball or any of the other myriad of games you can play on a pool table.

Since I’m a great fan of playing billiards especially 8-ball pool, I wanted to know the true rules of playing this game. Surprisingly enough, there is quite a bit of confusion and dissention as to the actual rules of these games. Fortunately, i found a great article, “8-Ball Pool Game Rules Explained” at http://www.online-pool-games.com/8-ball-pool-rules.html. If you are new to this pool game, you might want to visit the site in order to have a good understanding on how to play the 8 ball pool game properly.
