Mac Blog

April 5th, 2007 · No Comments

Most blogs are a dime a dozen, they are free or nearly free to set up, and are filled with mindless garbage. It is refreshing when you stumble across a blog that is actually worth reading. I have my Netvibes page full of feeds that I read each day. It has been quite a while since I added a new feed to my page. Well, today was the day I was able to add a new feed.

As you all know, I am a heavy duty mac user, both at home and at work. I carry my iPod everywhere, and can’t wait to get my hands on the new iPhone. Many of the sites I check on a regular basis are mac sites, so it is no surprise my new feed is a mac blog. Mac Shout is written for guys like me, guys who love macs but don’t have a ton of time. Their focus is on applications and utilities that make your mac life easier.

Matt Cutts’ Blog Hacked?

April 1st, 2007 · 2 Comments

I just learned earlier from a guy named Pierce in DP forums that Matt Cutts’ blog has been hacked. Some members say it’s just an April Fool’s joke but I don’t think Matt would do such joke as it is against Google and not very funny. This one is certainly an April Fool’s joke. And this one. And this one, and this one, and this one…:)

Fame And The Vlog (Video Blog)

April 1st, 2007 · No Comments

The ranks of the famous have traditionally been roles filled by movie stars, television stars, athletes and rock stars. The countenance of celebrity is changing to include a new, technology-oriented kind of superstar: The Vlogger. A vlog, if you have been hiding under a rock, is a blog (self-published online diary) with video. The vlog is trumping the blog as far as notoriety goes and the public’s love of the moving image hasn’t seen this much popularity since the invention of the moving picture in 1895. The difference being the technology necessary to become a vlogger, or to take the media into your own hands in the form of ‘citizen journalism’ as the genre is now touted, is becoming easier and easier. A camera, broadband, hosting site, software and content are the components needed to be a potential vlogstar.

Forbes.com has listed the Web Celeb 25, a summation of the current internet superstars influencing the Internet. Bloggers, podcasters and vloggers are among the individuals revolutionizing the Internet as we know it.

Mundane Is The New Punk Rock - Vlogging

April 1st, 2007 · No Comments

Blogging, (for those of you in the Dark Ages- a (we)blog- n. an online journal that incorporates weblinks, reader commentary and archives of the owner/author’s posts. Can include photos or video) experienced a superboom from 2002-2005 and today’s technorati.com blogtracker shows 71.06 million blogs and counting. On Jan. 1st, 2004, Steve Garfield declared ‘The Year of the Videoblog’ and he proved to be an assured soothsayer. Video blogging, or vblogging, is the new media breakthrough within the latest presentation of web technology and interactive production and, in the case of the vlog, broadcasting.

The Vlogosphere is filled with an equal amount of bizarre nonsense, biased and unbiased news, politics, sit coms and a man dressed as SKELETOR giving his semi-weekly glimpse into the world of the unemployed superhero singing karaoke, griping at home and play-acting his foregone existence in Eternia. YouTube and similar sites such as blip.tv, mefedia.com and podcasting have made it easy and accessible for anyone with a camera, laptop, broadband connection and a dream (or disturbing nightmare) to post their video thoughts and accomplishments online. Everyone’s a filmmaker and it’s more or less uncensored.

To Blog Or Not To Blog

March 31st, 2007 · No Comments

Is that a question? The act of blogging or, putting out personal, private, community or sub-cultural information, thoughts, opinions and communication for the masses is by no means a new idea. People have been forcing their opinions down other people’s throats since the dawn of man and the development of language and the written word. Beginning with writing on stone tablature to record accounting of goods and services to monks scribbling scripture to the invention of typesetting and the newspaper to radio to television to the Internet, human beings have wanted to express themselves verbally to a mass audience in order to effect change or simply stir things up. Blogging allows for the small, insignificant individual to bring to the world wide web his or her thoughts, musings and beliefs for better or worse.

Blogging, Vlogging, YouTube And MySpace

March 30th, 2007 · 1 Comment

If you’re reading this, you already know that I’ve been blogging. I also recently started vlogging. If you haven’t already asked why, I’ll tell you. I felt that I have a lot to say and needed an outlet. No, not just some sort of random rant, but a means of sharing with others my views and opinions. And yes, I do seem to have quite a few! I also wanted to share with others more information about the business I conduct.

Of course I try to focus most of my communications on business related topics, however, I will on occasion take a tangent on life and other observations. I think this article would be categorized as a tangent. The point is I believe that I can provide a lot of good insight into business as well as some good general life guidance. Now don’t think that I think I’m all knowing and that I’m perfect or infallible, etc. It’s just that sometimes I notice things. Take it for what you will

The Ten Ways To Increase Comment Numbers On Your Blog

March 29th, 2007 · 4 Comments

1. Ask Questions - Including specific questions in posts definitely helps get higher numbers of comments. I find that when I include questions in my headings that it is a particularly effective way of getting a response from readers as you set a question in their mind from the first moments of your post.

2. Invite Comments - I notice that when I specifically invite comments that people leave them in higher numbers than when I don’t. To some degree this confuses me as most of my readers know that they can leave comments on any post - but I guess inviting a comment triggers a response to some extent. Also keep in mind that new readers that are unfamiliar with blogging don’t always know about comments or how to use them - invitations to participate in well laid out and easy to use comments systems are good for helping them participate.

3. Interact with comments left - If you’re not willing to use your own comments section why would your readers? If someone leaves a comment interact with them. This gets harder as your blog grows but it’s particularly important in the early days of your blog as it shows your readers that their comments are valued, it creates a culture of interactivity and gives the impression to other readers that your comments section is an active place that you as the blogger value. As the activity in your comments section grows you may find you need to be slightly less active in it as readers will start to take over on answering questions and creating community - however don’t completely ignore your comment threads.

How Much Have you Made from PPP?

March 18th, 2007 · No Comments

PayPerPostI received an email notification yesterday from PayPerPost telling me that this blog has been approved and available to take “opportunities”. Opportunities in PayPerPost are subjects, websites or topics that bloggers can take to blog about in order to get paid. Unlike ReviewMe in which bloggers are picked by advertisers, PPP bloggers choose what opportunity(advertisers) they want to review.

“How much money have you made from PayPerPost so far and what are you going to do with it?” This is a sample opportunity that I have taken. To answer the question, since I’ve only just started yesterday and already posted two entries including this one, I should be paid $17. Not bad for making a quick money in about 15 minutes for each posts. If these two posts will be approved I’ll probably spend it to buy links and promote this blog and my other sites as well. I don’t have much time to write but I’ll try to make atleast two post a day to earn more.

PayPerPost is an effective blog marketing tool for adverstisers and at the same time a good opportunity for bloggers to earn money from blogging. Joining PayPerPost is very easy. You can sign up as a blogger or an advertiser. Advertisers are the ones that provide “opportunities” for bloggers to post about and earn money. Bloggers can choose from a range of opportunity lists or topics depending on their blog’s theme.

So if you are looking for ways to monetize your blog, join PPP and start earning now!

Blogging for Dollars

March 1st, 2007 · No Comments

Blogging can be important to your business. It is difficult enough getting traffic to your website without ignoring one of the best ways to do it. Search engines love blogs because they present ever changing content.

Website content is essential to interest visitors and keep them on your site, and too many sites keep the same old content week after week and month after month. While search engines like content, they soon notice if your website is remaining static, with nothing fresh coming on-stream. Blogs present ever changing content and so help you gain, and maintain, high listings in search engine indices for your keywords.
