I used A Smart Move for my move from Cleveland to Seattle. I chose them because of the free storage for 28 days since I had not yet found a place to live. When I finally found a place, I called to have my vault dropped off. The woman told me that they wouldn’t be able to get my things to me until the following Monday (it was Tuesday). I was upset but there wasn’t anything I could do about it.
A couple hours later I received a call from a man claiming to be the president of Smart Move, Chris Sapyta. He told me there was an accident. I thought I was being punked. He went on to tell me that the TRAIN that my vault was on blew off the train tracks in Montana. The Vault was never supposed to be on a train. One major note: this was Aug. 28th; Smart Move was told that my vault was lost on Aug. 11th!
Why would they wait over two weeks to notify me that they lost EVERYTHING I OWNED? Did they think I wasn’t going to ask for my vault?
Smart Move is a terrible company; I highly recommend finding a more reputable mover. I was “given” 60ยข for all of my belongings witch amounted to $999.00 total.
