Recently, Microsoft unveiled its latest and greatest innovation. Although at first glance, it is a table with an embedded flat screen, Microsoft Surface is the result of several years of hard work and many brilliant innovations. Surface breaks away from the norm, in that it does not use a mouse or a keyboard. It instead relies on touch sensors, as well as a combination of five cameras beneath the projection screen that can recognize various shapes on the surface and wirelessly connect to them, bringing a whole new meaning to click and drag: the user could physically drag files to a device.
The hardware for a Microsoft Surface is going to be unique, as Microsoft will finally begin making their own, as they sense incredible market potential in this very innovative niche. The CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, has said publicly that this could possibly become a multi-billion dollar industry, with applications ranging from tabletops, to interactive mirrors. It is possible that this will eventually be built into the doors of refrigerators, or embedded into walls, pervading many aspects of everyday life.
Microsoft Surface will be available to Microsoft’s partners, such as T-Mobile, by the end of this year. T-Mobile hopes to use the camera technology to allow a customer at a kiosk to place phones side by side on the table, and have a technical overview appear, certainly a creative application of this incredible platform. This technology should not be long in coming to the rest of the world; a spokesman said that Microsoft hopes to make its products more prevalent in the home, especially in the next three to five years.

Wow. Microsoft really has the cutting edge with technology! Must be all that extra money they have!
Contain your excitement, guys. Let’s just hope this Surface does not freeze. Shucks. Because all Microsoft products do.
Interesting, personally I think Microsoft should be concentrating on other sectors of their business which actually has potential to explode. I can’t see this being anything more then a gadget that only tech savvy people would purchase.
That looks pretty cool. Talk about taking technology to the next level. I wonder when something like that will be available to the public.
ALKOHOLIKS,
Microsoft says it’s aimed at retail establishments, restaurants and public entertainment venuews and should be commercially available towards the end of the year.
This really looks very very interesting! I cannot wait until I can get the chance to check this out for myself. While there are those who dont like Microsoft, it cannot be denied that they are leaders in innovation.
Hmm.. I knew that was coming, but from m$, the inspiration must have been the hollywood movies i assume..lol
Amazing technology… but no idea when I have chance to use it.. Hopefully in next 2-3 years..

This one is futuristic innovation by Microsoft. Everything is starting to use sensors now.
This is actually a very interesting technology. The idea is not new, but in fact, I never saw it working like this earlier. It’s a great technology; actually I think it has still some little bugs (how will a keyboard work on this?) - yet I’m confident it’ll become extremely popular once everything is fixed.
That’s amazing technology… impressive.
Maybe Microsoft will finally give us a product that don’t break every 5 minutes. And it looks kinda cool. It will cost a fortune…
Can I have my meal on it?
Another good innovation from Micro.
Talvehtia,
Im sure you can. you can even sleep over it.
I have seen this invention on youtube a year ago in Japan.. looks like more products Microsoft has stolen…?
Quite awesome technology, thanks for the news.
Although i don’t really like Microsoft products as they usually suck. But who knows with this one
I would love to have that technology on my table top when it comes out. Probably another 10 years time.
That is some interesting technology! I wonder how it will fare in the long run and what the competitors will come up with… some open source version perhaps… lol.
I can see the potential in this kind of technology, but it may mean less jobs for people
