Yahoo! Search Index Update Still Ongoing?

After Google’s PageRank update, which also occurred this month of January, Yahoo! also updated their search index just a week ago, January 19, 2007.

Weather Report: Yahoo! Search Index Update

We are in the process of rolling out some changes to our search results. As usual, you may be seeing some changes in ranking as well as some shuffling of the pages that are included in the index throughout this process. This update began last night and should be complete very soon.

Keep the feedback coming!

The update should have been completed by now as Yahoo! stated above but I’m still seeing very unstable search results especially for “ituloy angsulong” keyword.

  • It seems to me that Yahoo always has unstable SERPs. Parang araw araw naiiba yung results. And drastic changes too. Like, one minute you’re on the first page, the next hour, nasa 5th page, then you go back to the first page before the day ends. Why is that?

  • I’m not really sure. My friend and I were just discussing about it earlier because i noticed Yahoo! is still displaying an old cached copy of my site sometimes at rank 20. But then again after a while it comes back to rank 12 again. I also see some drastic changes every once in a while. I’m really worried about my Yahoo!’s unstable position.

  • yeah! most unstable talaga ang yahoo among the 3 search engines. And they change rankings after clicking refresh. Ano kaya ang gagawin sa awards night kapag ganun ang scenario?

  • I like your blog d6rth7ader. Thanks for the Favourites exchange. I will keep an eye on your ideas to boost my search engine rankings.

  • Guys have you seen this search result in Yahoo?

Now, what the hell dreamhost.com is doing there? Is this some kind of a bug in Yahoo’s algorithm?

  • EY gio, we saw that. And it was #1 even when we found it. Looks like someone’s doing some cloaking. Hehe. What do you say?

  • I don’t know. I’m not sure but i’ts probably because of the recent update.

I headed over to WebmasterWorld and found these two thread:

Yahoo Search Replacing Site Titles in SERPs

I am having trouble with the Yahoo indexing of one of my sites. It is indexing the whole website OK, except for the homepage. The title Yahoo is using for the homepage is not the title it’s ever had, and is all in lower case, which obviuosly looks very odd. Also it is showing no description, either when doing a site: search or in the actual serps for my target keywords. Also, it’s not showing a cache.

Is this some sort of penalty? The thing is if it was it wouldn’t show in the serps, but with Yahoo displaying it like that no one is clicking thorugh! Any ideas as to why Yahoo wouldn’t display / index the homepage properly?

the site isn’t new, it’s been around for 18 months and this has gone on for some time.

Seeing Huge Changes in Yahoo: 01-18-2007

I’m seeing very big changes in the index this evening… looks like a big update in backlinks and some very big shifting in the serps for the areas I track.

Also, that whole title change thing looks like a plague spreading through the web at the moment.

    Anyone else seeing it?

Looks like there are users who also see weird results from Yahoo! SERPs.
