Google, Yahoo and Microsoft Unite to Support Standard Sitemaps Protocol

google-yahoo-microsoft.pngThis is yet another milestone in making the web more simpler and better. Yesterday, in a collaborative effort to help webmasters, Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft agreed to use a standard Sitemaps protocol to index sites.  It's called the Sitemap 0.90 which is offered under a Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons License.

This should really help webmasters increase efficiency and less time spent on getting things to work across different search engines. Just imagine creating just one sitemaps that will work for the three, rather than being required to use a separate format for each one. Webmasters using the current Google sitemaps don't need to change anything, they can use it now for Yahoo! and Microsoft. Although it isn't clear yet as to how to submit these sitemaps to Yahoo! and MSN, Im sure it will be available soon. Watch out sitemaps.org for updates.

Joint support for the Sitemap Protocol

We're thrilled to tell you that Yahoo! and Microsoft are joining us in supporting the Sitemap protocol.

As part of this development, we're moving the protocol to a new namespace, www.sitemaps.org, and raising the version number to 0.9. The sponsoring companies will continue to collaborate on the protocol and publish enhancements on the jointly-maintained site sitemaps.org.

Im extremely happy about this and It's great to see the "The Big Three" working together once again for a common goal.  Not so long time ago, last January 2005 was a memorable date in the blogosphere as Google, Yahoo!, MSN and other popular blog vendors joined hands for the first time to combat comment spamming. Google initiated the rel="nofollow" tag used for hyperlinks.

Introduce a different protocol for the webmasters. Any of your openion welcome. Thanks.

Sitebases, the next protocol after Sitemaps
It can save the time and press for the search engine, also for the websites.
It can bring new search engine that named Search Engine 2.0 .
Using Sitebases protocol, will save 95% bandwidth above. It is another sample for long tail theory.
In this protocol, I suggested that all search engine can share their Big Sitebases each other, so the webmaster just need to submit their Sitebases to one Search Engine.
And I suggested that all search engines can open their search API for free and unlimited using.

Nice site!

Do you know how to submit sitemaps to MSN?

MSN are working hard to prepare to accept Sitemaps protocol when 2007 is coming.
Now, we just wait. If I get news, I will comment on this post. If you so, please tell me also.
Thank you.
